I did a Facebook live today; for those of you who choose not to watch it there on my Facebook wall, I have copied it over to Youtube to make it easier.
This live is about teaching your dog to to put more power to his rear and lighten up the front, with a few bits of sitting straight. I also touch on rewarding for position and how your choices about where to reward will influence your dog.
Good luck!
Thank you
Very impressive, can see how this training would work.
I appreciate you taking the time to do this. For those of us with small dogs, it is very helpful to watch you work with Brito.
There was one time he seemed to lose the treat on the rug and kept sniffing for it. My Westie is very food oriented and her nose is much too close to the floor. I avoid tossing treats and try to always feed from my hand. If I drop a treat by mistake or if she has swallowed a treat without realizing it, she will start sniffing the floor frantically trying to locate it. I need to get her to re-engage with me but she is focused on searching for the “lost” cookie. Do you have any suggestions for extinguishing this behavior? Thank you.
I encourage them to look for it – it’s part of the reward package and in my mind, not a problem in and of itself.
Very help full as always
What other things do you do to lighten up front end
I now have pocket hand figured out lol
The placement for touch was just what I needed
You may want to look at the advanced heeling class that is currently running at FDSA – I talk about a lot of things in relation to improving heeling – A LOT!
Oh, oh, oh– pocket hand to straighten fronts! (Thinking hard now!)
Suggestion. Please remember when shooting video – to have the phone horizontal.
