Day 1 – Thursday, March 7th
The Fenzi Method: Cutting Corners to Loose Leash Walking (9:30am)
If you or your clients are struggling with the skill of Loose leash Walking then this is the lab for you! By reducing frustration and “keeping everyone’s feet moving”, a high percentage of dogs and handler teams can learn to walk nicely on a leash, even if they lack significant food motivation or low distraction areas in which to practice. The solution is simple! Come and join this lecture to learn how to make your walks peaceful and rewarding for all parties involved.
Day 2 – Friday, March 8th
Heeling Games (9:00am)
Done well, heeling is an intense, exciting dance between engaged partners requiring absolute concentration and energy. When heeling is practiced as a series of specific behaviors – left turns, right turns, change of pace, etc. – the dance is lost. This lecture and lab will teach you how to practice heeling as a game – with the end result that your performance will be sharper, more interesting, and with much-improved focus and endurance. This lab is equally well suited to a person with only a few steps of heeling as a person who has advanced competition titles but needs to bring the life back to their heeling.
Day 3 – Saturday, March 9th
Introduction to Play with Dogs (9:00am)
The purpose of this presentation and lab is to help the participants understand how to play with their dog using toys most effectively, so that both participants can have a good time! We will discuss how to motivate dogs to play, how to start the game, and how to keep dogs engaged without overwhelming them! Toy play, done well, is one of the most entertaining things that we can do with our dogs, but it’s easy to miss some of the finer points of the game and cause our dogs to disengage. This presentation will help you become a better play partner to your dog!
